Keeping It Neat In the Heat - Our Tips For For Formal Dressing In the Summer

There's no denying, the UK is in the thick of a heatwave. Lucky us! But just the thought of wearing a suit in this weather makes us sweat a little. However, Summer formal wear doesn't have to be layers of heavy dark fabric and stifling suits, here's our tips for dressing to impress in higher temperatures.

Ditch the 3 piece

Having a full ensemble isn’t everything, you can lose a couple of layers and still look put together. Switch a long sleeve jacket for a cooler but classic button up waistcoat or if you’re event is less formal you could even dress up a simple smart shirt and trousers. Young’s stock a great range of 2 piece suit options that you can find here

Loosen up

As nice as they may look, slim and super slim fit suits will be very uncomfortable when temperatures are in the high twenties. A suit with a little more wiggle room, keep you cooler and still photograph well. Remember you can try your suit on at home to make sure it fits in all the right places.

A case of the blues

Light colours are a staple for Summer weddings, whether it’s the neckwear or suit itself. A lot of breathable materials like cotton and linen are available in blues and beiges, resulting in a look that is fresh in feel as well as appearance. However linen is superior to cotton in the heat as it is lighter weight and easier to move in.
